Cooper’s Team Resource Groups (TRGs) are open to anyone who identifies with or has a passion for the interest of the specific TRG. All TRGs are inclusive and open to everyone. There is no limit to the number of members in a TRG. Membership is open to all Cooper employees, in compliance with Cooper’s anti-discrimination polices and applicable law.
Cooper TRG Leadership Roles
Approved Time is up to eight hours monthly for each role.
- Two Co-Leaders: Shared leadership responsibility for the TRG.
- Historian: Keep copious documentation of TRG journey, accomplishments and history.
- Internal Communications: Note taker and communication within TRG for membership only.
- Treasurer: Responsible for budgetary planning and spend related specifically to TRG activities.
- External Communications: Communications to the Cooper community working with Cooper communications, marketing, and social media.
- Event Coordinator: As needed and determined by TRG leadership.
- Project manager: Support the planning and collaboration of events and activities sponsored by the TRG with other TRGs and the organization.
- Committees and members – There can be several committees within a TRG, with each committee having a membership.
Note: It is not necessary for a TRG leader to have a leadership title but they should possess some of the following leadership skills:
- Relationship Builder
- Team Player
- Good Communicator
- Influencer
- Collaborator
- Community Builder
TRG Leadership Requirement:
As a TRG leader, you will be a Diversity Champion at Cooper. It is expected that the TRG leaders communicate regularly with their executive sponsors, leaders and respective department about TRG goals, events, meetings, activities and other necessary information about the TRGs.
The leadership team will need to be:
- Committed to promoting a diverse workplace environment.
- Committed to the growth and development of their TRG for at least one year. This must be discussed with the current supervisor for approval.
- Able to promote diversity initiatives that establish and foster a more inclusive and equitable work/learning environment.
- Prepared to engage with DEI leaders, TRG coordinator, and others to complete fulfillment of the role.
- Prepared to meet with DEI leaders and TRG coordinator monthly.
- Prepared to engage and reflect on a learning process during TRG formation with feedback from TRG members.
- Committed to meeting regularly (approximately four times per year) with the executive sponsor.
- Focused on and advocate for an action-oriented TRG.
- Willing to provide information, feedback, and ideas as needed for the TRG program.
